The International Management Center at The University of Warsaw

The International Management Center was established in 1990 at the University of Warsaw in order to pursue three distinctive goals:

  • Design and offer the Master of Business Administration Program, a comprehensive program of management education, one of the first such programs in Eastern and Central Europe,
  • Provide short executive courses designed to meet the needs of particular types of Polish organizations, and
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with top business schools in the USA and Western Europe.

The Executive MBA Program offered through the International Management Center (IMC) at the University of Warsaw was established in 1991-1992 with the cooperation of the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign.
In 1991, after extended preparation, the University of Illinois and the University of Warsaw signed an agreement to develop and cooperate on a joint Master of Business Administration Program (MBA) that would:

  • Meet the demanding standards of world-class business education,
  • Ensure a lasting impact on Polish business education, and
  • Create a replacable experience.

Our Executive MBA program was one of the first MBA programs in Poland. The program was funded from private US sources (Ford and Mellon foundation grants) and USAID support. The MBA program was chosen as a platform for cooperation because it is the world standard of comprehensive managerial education that joins academics and practice.  Short courses or executive development programs, while complementary to an MBA degree, are not substitutes for the comprehensive management education offered in an MBA program.

Twenty one cohorts of students have already graduated (the 22nd cohort is studying now). The program is very highly ranked in both Poland and the US. Our graduates are employed in top management positions at leading Polish and international companies. The program has set the standard in Poland for management training.

Our Executive MBA Program in rainkings:

  • Perspektywy MBA Ranking – 1st place in 2011, and 2012. Best MBA program’s curriculum in 2011, 2012, and 2013
  • Rating SEM Forum – Masters’ Class (the highest)
