“Values in life and business” – meeting with Krzysztof Jędrzejewski, major shareholder of Kopex Group

On Monday, March 18, 2013, Krzysztof Jędrzejewski made the WIEMBA Alumni Association guest speaker who shared his experience in business, values believed and CSR activities taken.

Krzysztof Jędrzejewski is an owner of 59% of shares of one of the largest in the world corporations in the mining industry – Kopex Group. The company produces mining machines, builds and upgrades coal mines, as well as takes part in prestigious international projects such as modernization of CERN, European Laboratory for Particle Physics near Geneva. He earned his first money by selling garden tools and equipment through the companies he established in 1990: “Centrum Ogrodnicze Iglak” and „Flora Land”. He is still their shareholder. In 2001, together with his brother, he acquired the shares of Zabrzańskie Zakłady Mechaniczne and that was a start of his career in mining business. From 2001 and initial family investment of 19 mln zlotych in the company hiring 800 employees, by the end 2007 Kopex Group had been formed with shares worth 2 bln zlotych. According to Krzysztof Jędrzejewski, the most important business lesson learnt is to manage with your own values, especially credibility and respect to others, as well as to take your decisions with consent with yourself.
