„Natural Leadership” – meeting with dr. Joanna Heidtman

On February 27, 2013, at 18.00 at the UW International Management Center’s lecture hall, another meeting of members and friends of the Executive MBA Alumni Association took place.

This time dr. Joanna Heidtman – a renown psychologist, sociologist, coach and consultant - made its guest speaker. Dr Heidtman presented a concept of “natural leadership”, which today is diffused in different parts of organizations, more often nowadays organized in a net systems. That is why, a formal structure of organization is no longer that important as it used to be. Relations are important. Today, one may not have managerial position, and yet be a leader. Summarizing her presentation, dr. Heidtman offered three most important steps to effective leadership: 1) consciousness of your own way of leading; 2) recognition of other people’s styles and ability to adjust to them; 3) awareness of organizational culture. According to dr. Heidtman, in order to lead effectively one has to be truthful to one basic principle: “First adjustment, then leadership”.
